Embracing the Spirit of 2024: A Year of Growth, Discovery, and Living Big

It’s 2024!  I’m so excited for this year.  2024 will be a year for growth. A year for pivoting and a year for love. It will be a year of thinking big and living big. I’m so excited for what 2024 has in store!

Thought of the month:

Live Big.

Don’t be afraid to be yourself. Take risks. Dream BIG. Live BIG. I think a lot of people are afraid to speak their minds, to take chances, to make changes. If you never take that chance you may one day wake up and realize life has passed you by. I don’t have time for regrets. I’m on a quest to live my biggest and best life!

On the road again:

This month the family and I flew to Las Vegas for the Better Life conference.  From there we rented a car and drove up through St. George Utah where we’re working on a new luxury glamping resort right outside Zion National Park.  We spent a few days there before driving up to another town I wanted to check out in Northern Utah called Eden.  It was fantastic. Sadly we didn’t get to ski there as Nico was a little under the weather.

However, when we got to the next town, Bozeman, MT, we did get to ski up at Bridger Bowl. That was amazing!  I got to meet another guy doing a similar project in that area and he and I hit it off pretty well. This guy has done some huge developments all around California and now lives up in Bozeman.  I can see why, it’s beautiful there!

From Bozeman we drove over to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where we spent Christmas and met up with our architect on another project we’re working on up that way. Coeur d’Alene was magical as always and we definitely could’ve spent even more time there, but by this point we had been gone almost a month so we knew we needed to return to Maui before the New Year.  So, we drove off to Seattle and flew out in time to see a few fireworks. In all, it was an epic road trip, covering 2500 miles in about 30 days. We got to look at some beautiful real estate, see a lot of good friends and meet some new ones. Not a bad way to end 2023!

What I’m Reading

In 2023 I read a lot of books. Probably over 50.  There were a lot of GREAT books that I’d highly recommend.  If you’d like to check out the list of all the recommended books click here. However, there were two books that I thought were absolutely extraordinary.  Like eating gummy bears, I really couldn’t get enough of either of these books. If you have a chance to read either one I HIGHLY recommend them.  And if you do read them, please let me know your thoughts, I’m genuinely interested in hearing your opinions.  Those two books are:

New Photography:

Because we were going to be on the road for the month of December, I decided to pick up the new iPhone to check out it’s camera. I didn’t bring my DSLR, just the iPhone and a drone.  To be honest, I think the iPhone’s camera may be better than that of the drone!  (Maybe time for a new drone…)

Here’s some shots from the trip:

St. George, Utah

Snow Canyon at sunset. Simply incredible.

RAW image from the iPhone. Not bad.  Certainly no full frame DSLR image, but not bad!

St. George, Utah

I had some fun with this rotted out old tree.

There are canyons and hiking all around this area. Every time I go to St. George I want to stay longer. Next time I will!

A few more from this magical place.

Last one from here, I promise…

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

Aerial view of our property in Idaho.  We’re really excited to build a home in this area and hopefully spend a little more time up here in the years to come!

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

Another aerial from our land.

As much as I love all the pine and fir trees, I think I’d be pretty comfortable trading them for a bigger view of the lake.…
