I don't know what it is about these mountain rivers that makes their water turn this color. I've seen this in places of Colorado and Alaska and here in Northern Canada too. I think it has something to do with the minerals but who knows. Regardless of why, the color is striking as it winds through untouched banks of snow, save those recently visited by caribou, moose or elk in the area. There's little that excites me more than fresh fallen snow like in this scene. Northern Canada is magical and I would encourage anyone to brave the cold and get out there and enjoy the visual feast that is the Canadian Rockies.
