Explosive Silence

Boom.  It's hard to see with the naked eye, but when you let that shutter sit open for 20-30 seconds and you've got your ISO bumped up a little, man, that sky comes to life!  It's amazing how you don't even know it's there until you see the image pop up in the back of the camera.  Of course, I have apps that help me pinpoint where and when the milky way is going to be in the sky and I always try to shoot the night sky when there is a new moon or after it has long gone down at least.  This gives the least amount of light pollution and the most amount of WOW.  Like this one over lake Coeur d'Alene for example.
