I know what you're thinking, "There's no way this was taken in Oregon." Well, it was. It's actually about one of the most remote places I've ever been in the continental United States. I had to make sure I had a hybrid vehicle that got 40mpg or better just to make it here. This place is so far from anything that I ended up sleeping in my car after I shot this. I had heard of this place through another photographer and had decided to make it part of a solo road trip I was on. When I finally made it, I drove my rental car right out onto this old dried up lake bed and setup a couple cameras. There were massive fires in California, Nevada and Western Oregon at the time. I think that contributed to the insane colors of this sunset. Whatever it was, I was treated to a sunset so intense that I was literally jumping up and down and screaming with joy at how beautiful the landscape was.
