Kuka‘emoku

I saw the clouds from my house setting up a potentially incredible sunset, so I rushed up to I‘ao Valley and hiked up to get a good view of the needle (Kuka‘emoku).  As the sun began to set behind the valley, the sky lit up with blues and pinks and the surrounding colors dripped yellows and oranges on the valley walls.  This combined with the brilliant greens of a recently saturated forest floor combine to make this one of the most colorful pieces I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting.  Certainly this piece is a favorite in my collection.
