Meditations

I was out shooting a sunrise on the Big Island of Hawaii and remember trying to find a spot that I wanted to shoot.  Nothing looked right and I had been exploring the area for over an hour already.  The sky was just starting to lighten up. I sat down on these lava rocks and closed my eyes. I must've sat there for awhile.  I'm not sure, but when I opened my eyes the color in the sky was turning pink and purple and the sun was probably 20 minutes from rising. I remember standing up and looking down to where I had put my gear and thinking, that's a really cool looking frame with the still water in the veins of the lava rock and the reflected pinks from the morning sky in the pool beyond.  I don't shoot a whole lot of abstract photography, but sometimes I really enjoy them.  This is one of those times.  Sadly, this area's landscape changed dramatically as the entire peninsula I was standing on here got covered with lava in 2018.
