Morning Thunder

The waves were pounding the shoreline when I shot this image back in 2016. I remember getting nervous that the rumble from the waves crashing on the lava rocks would actually move my tripod enough so that I couldn't get a crisp image. Thankfully, I was able to avoid that with a few shots.  This one showing that perfect wave and crystal blue waters is a favorite of mine. The way the sun is just starting to peak above the horizon and the way that the color from the sunrise lights up the entire scene is magical. Sadly, this is in an area that is no longer there. With the lava flows from the volcano over there a few years back it completely covered this area. Now the landscape is completely different, and I am eternally grateful for the time I got to spend there on the Big Island of Hawaii photographing this glorious sunrise!
