Mystic Passage

This is a well worn path on O'ahu, Hawaii. I was hiking it with some friends when I came across this canopy scene on the way to a magnificent waterfall. There were many people on the path too, and while everyone else just moved along towards the waterfall, I knew I wanted to wait it out and photograph this path. The light was awesome, the color shining through the trees was beautiful and eerie at the same time. I setup my tripod low to the ground to capture some of the roots along the side of the path and finally when I got a break from hikers, I snapped away a bracketed shot here which I pieced together later to bring out all the highlights and shadows that a single image just can't capture.
