Retreat

Iceland is a photographer's playground.  The jagged cliffs, stoic mountains and crystal clear waters are all incredible.  The black sand beaches that surround the island aren't too shabby either.  As I was getting ready to shoot a sunset on this beach, I loved watching the strength of the ocean rush up onto the shore and retreat back drastically and with such power into the sea. Even though the sunset was beautiful, I wanted to capture something abstract that showed the hidden beauty a little bit.  Looking down and seeing the variance in tones and the reflecting light from the sunset, I knew that was my shot.
