The Sanctuary

I was testing out a new Nikon camera one evening and decided to shoot this old fish pond near my house. I could see West Maui off in the distance, and as I was framing it up with this ultra wide angle lens, the scene in front of you appeared. I waited for the sun to go down and then shot a long exposure of a little over a minute to get this feel.  Keeping the exposure long helped to smooth the waters and give it an ethereal presence. It feels to me like something that should be in a wellness center or some kind of yoga retreat or something.
