Winter’s Warmth

A couple hours before sunrise I had hiked out to this location to capture the sun rising over these majestic mountains. I had scouted the place the previous day and thought it was a good location for a sunrise shoot. As the day began to get lighter I was framing up my shot and dialing in my settings when I turned to glance over my shoulder.  It was cold in the morning air in January in Northern Canada, so I turned to block my face from the wind and dance around with my hands in my pockets for a minute.

As I turned however, I saw this sight before you.  It was still dark, but the composition was phenomenal.  I turned back to my camera and repositioned and when the sun was at the right point, I fired away.  I was so excited with this shot that I probably danced all the way back to my vehicle.  While it was freezing out there in the Canadian winter, the warmth I felt inside after watching a sunrise at this location melted all that cold away!
