Artist notes:

The night I shot this I was hunting for a different shot, but the heavy cloud cover and stormy conditions made the hunt look bleak (along with the landscape for that matter).  I was beginning to think I wasn’t going to be able to capture much as I was sitting in my truck listening to some old blues records on the stereo and watching to see what the sky was going to do.  Rain was softly coming down over the windshield as I looked out at the horizon.

Suddenly, the rain got lighter, and the dark gray in front of me started lightening.  Soon the rain passed to the South and I knew I had just a moment to capture the shot as the sun now threatened to fall behind the horizon.  I leapt out of my truck, grabbed my gear and setup the shot I had been staking from the cab.  Within a few minutes I was setup and firing away.  The window quickly shut as the rains came back and clouded the scene again.

I packed up and jumped back in the truck.  When I started it up again, Albert King came on the stereo with his rendition of “Stormy Monday.”  Since it just so happened to be a Monday, I thought what an appropriate name for a piece!
